Hainan will build a national cold chain warehouse

By 2025, Hainan plans to add a total capacity of about 14.45 million cubic meters of cold storage, and will build a national cold chain warehouse to serve the domestic ultra-large-scale market. Hainan is committed to becoming a regional international cold chain logistics center.

Total market demand for cold chain logistics in Hainan is estimated to be around 43.1 million tons by 2025 , with an output value of about 978.4 billion yuan. Based on the development needs of the cold chain market, the Hainan Free Trade Port will take full advantage of trade and taxation policies, enhancing its capacity to connect with the outside world, building a national cold chain warehouse to serve the domestic market, and working to develop into a regional international cold chain logistics center.

By 2025, Hainan plans to add about 14.45 million cubic meters to the province's total cold storage capacity, to achieve a transport and distribution rate of 85% for cold chain food moving in and out of the province, and achieve a cold chain transport rate of 100% for  medicine coming in and out of Hainan. Two to three large cold chain logistics enterprises with strong core competitiveness will also be brought into the island, Hainan will foster 2-3 cold chain logistics third-party suppliers, and will also create 2-3 new cold chain food brands. Hainan will develop a digital platform for cold chain logistics supply, and foster several model enterprises and model safety products with full cold chain systems, full monitoring, and full traceability.

It is estimated that by 2035, Hainan will have a cold chain supply chain service network system covering major global trading partners and connecting to the domestic consumer market. A complete cold chain facility system will be in place, and the province’s cold chain service capabilities will reach an advanced international level, forming a complete, networked, standardized, traceable cold chain logistics system.
