Haikou Meilan International Airport Phase II puts into operation

Meilan Airport Phase II is located in the north area of the existing Meilan Airport, with a planned land area of about 576.5 hectares. It is the first 4F grade flight area in Hainan Province, with a runway 3,600m long and 60m wide, two parallel taxiways, and a contact lane system, enabling the world's largest civil airliner A380 to take off and land. Covering an area of 300,000 square meters, T2 is about twice the size of the existing T1 terminal, with 110 check-in counters and 46 security lanes. It is planned that by 2025, Meilan Airport can meet the operation demand of 35 million passengers and 400,000 tons of cargo, thus realizing the efficient connection between the Hainan Free Trade Port and the world, and promoting Hainan to become the gateway hub of the aviation region facing the Pacific and Indian Oceans.

Yang Xiaobin, president of Haikou Meilan International Airport told the reporter, “this will be an increase of 10 million passengers annually, currently our maximum throughput of passengers has been 24 million. This will lay a solid foundation for facilitation of movement of people and the transportation of goods within the Hainan FTP. ”
