Hainan Airports Handle Nearly 40M Passengers in 2021

In 2021, Hainan airports successfully completed the annual transportation support tasks, with the 11 airports transporting 39,211,700 passengers, up 8.61% year-on-year.

In 2021, Hainan airports achieved a cargo throughput of 292,400 tons, rising by 14.8% year-on-year. 309,800 takeoffs and landings were carried out, up 9.60% year-on-year. The safe operation was stable and controllable, with major operating indicators surpassing pre-epidemic levels in the same period.

The passenger throughput of the Haikou Meilan International Airport, Sanya Phoenix International Airport and Qionghai Boao Airport reached about 34.9 million, 283,800 tons of cargo and 261,500 take-offs and landings, with year-on-year growth of 7.4%, 32% and 8% respectively. According to preliminary statistics, Haikou Meilan International Airport and Sanya Phoenix International Airport rank 16th and 19th respectively in terms of passenger volume in China.
