New Hainan Comprehensive Bonded Zone approved

On May 18, China formally approved the new Haikou Airport Comprehensive Bonded Zone. This is the third special customs supervision area and the second comprehensive bonded area in Hainan, the others being the Yangpu Free Trade Port Zone and the Haikou Integrated Free Trade Zone.

The new Comprehensive Bonded Zone is located in Haikou’s Jiangdong New Areaairport economic zone, and covers an area of 0.44 square kilometers adjacent to the Haikou Meilan International Airport. With the advantages of this excellent location and an industrial foundation, the new Comprehensive Bonded Zone will focus on the aviation industry, including the development of aircraft maintenance, bonded aviation materials, and logistics. It will also incorporate the development of aviation leasing, aviation training, and the timely expansion of bonded processing, cross-border e-commerce, and other businesses.

At present, the construction of infrastructure and supervision facilities in the Zone are being accelerated in accordance with relevant requirements, and two key projects are being built, a one-stop aircraft maintenance base and an aircraft engine maintenance base. After the completion of needed infrastructure and supervision facilities, as well as approval by the General Administration of Customs in conjunction with relevant departments, Haikou Customs will implement closed supervision and start operations.
