An amazing event to tell Hainan's stories is currently ongoing

The dog days of summer are here but Hainan’s lush coconut breeze and beautiful blue oceans are keeping everything cool. The Free Trade Port and its ongoing construction, however, are still hot! The“Sharing Hainan with the World”-- 2021 Hainan Free Trade Port Development Master Plan Publication 1 Year Anniversary Hainan Media Tour and Promotion Exchange was formally launched last night.

It is understood that, this event—which started on July 16th—will continue through to the 23rd of this month. During the event editors, reporters, and photographers from more than 50 key online and offline news organizations from all around China will come to Hainan to experience firsthand how the island has been progressing in its development of comprehensive tourism projects, rural beautification and rural poverty alleviation. They will also have the opportunity to truly experience and report back to their respective markets the way in which the Free Trade Port is changing the island for the better. 

This event has also invited some of the Hainan International Media Center’s overseas communication officers and hosts so that—via their reports, broadcasts, and blogs—people from outside China will also have the opportunity to get a good look at the real Hainan.

At the opening ceremony, the most eye-catching event was a coordinated light show put on by 520 synchronized drones dancing in the air in a visual feast of technology and artistry. Featuring a total of eight scenes, the drone show used the night sky as a backdrop to highlight items ranging from cultural tourism hotspots to the Hainan FTP. Combining light and shadow, the drones told the stories of Haikou and the brilliance of the Free Trade Port.

HIMC’s American communications’ officer Tommy was not only in attendance at the opening ceremony, he was also invited to give a speech wherein he expressed his joy at getting to live in Hainan during this special time as well as his gratitude for being invited to participate. “There's all sorts of transformations going on, all sorts of facilities being built. So, it'll be good for them to know exactly what's going on around here on the Hainan Free Trade Port”, said Tommy.

In addition to Tommy, a Russian communications’ officer Polina was also in attendance. She expressed excitement and hope for this event and said, “this kind of communications event promotes mutual study and mutual improvement while also giving me a chance to gain deeper knowledge of China” in fluent Chinese.
