When you visit Hainan Island, China’s southernmost province, don’t forget to spend some time exploring Haikou, which has its own charms in addition to being the capital city of Hainan.

With bright sunshine, clear waters, lush green palm trees, and fresh clean air, Haikou is a tropical paradise and an increasingly popular vacation destination. Additionally, it boasts a number of attractions with fascinating histories and rich, unique local cultures.

However, that's not all. On June 1, 2020, China issued the master plan for the Hainan Free Trade Port, aiming to develop the province into a globally influential high-level free trade port by the middle of the century. Since then, Haikou has become a core city for the development of the Hainan Free Trade Port, playing a major role in the province's economic growth.
