Actual Use of Foreign Capital in Hainan Increased by 623.6% in H1, Ranking 1st in China

In the first half of this year, the actual use of foreign capital in Hainan increased by 623.6% year-on-year, with the growth rate leading the whole country.

In the first half of this year, there were 979 newly established overseas-invested enterprises in Hainan Province, an increase of 500.6% compared with the same period in 2019, and a year-on-year growth of 384.7%. The actual use of foreign capital reached 950 million US Dollars, an increase of 631.7% and 623.6% over the same period in 2019. In the first half of this year, the number of newly established overseas-funded enterprises was close to the whole of last year.

For investment industry, from January to June, the actual use of foreign capital in the modern service industry in Hainan province was 860 million US dollars, accounting for 90% of the total amount of actual use of foreign capital in the province. New sectors have shown an inflow in foreign capital, including international shipping, financial leasing, high-end consumption, education and medical care, as well as new trade.

For investment sources, the number of countries and regions investing in Hainan this year has increased compared with last year. A total of 80 countries and regions invested in Hainan last year. In the first half of this year, 89 countries and regions set up new overseas-invested enterprises in Hainan province, with China’s Hong Kong and Taiwan, and countries including the United States, Canada and Singapore ranking the top five in the number of new overseas-invested enterprises.
