Hefty fines for businesses and projects illegally discharging sewage and pollutants

In order to protect the environment, prevent pollution and strengthen control measures, a number of businesses and projects within the Jiangdong New Area have received hefty fines for illegally discharging sewage and pollutants.

Haikou Jiangdong New Area Administration, the district government, the Municipal Comprehensive Administrative Law Enforcement Bureau, the Municipal Ecological Environment Bureau, and the Municipal Water Affairs Bureau have joined together to combat illegal actions damaging the environment.

Recently, the Jiangdong New Area Administration announced the second batch of cases that were investigated and dealt with regarding polluting the environment.

Hainan Nanzhuque Construction Engineering co. ltd. was fine 126,000 yuan for illegal sewage discharge.

Hainan Nanzhuque Construction Engineering Co., Ltd. is responsible for the management of the sewage treatment stations of four property companies, Jingyuan District, Fanhuali District, Greenland Plaza, and Q Hotel.

Haikou City Comprehensive Administrative Law Enforcement Bureau issued an administrative penalty decision on August 20, 2021, in accordance with the “Hainan Ecological Environment Administrative Penalty Standards Regulations”, imposing a fine of RMB 126,000 on Hainan South Zhuque Construction Engineering Co., Ltd. and ordering it to make corrections immediately. The rectifications have since been completed.

Hainan Hongzhou Property Service Co, ltd. Haikou branch was fine 153,000 yuan for illegal sweage discharge.

Hainan Hongzhou Property Service Co., Ltd. Haikou Branch, as the property service company for Hongzhou Jiangshan Community, discharged water pollutants in excess of standards.

Haikou City Comprehensive Administrative Law Enforcement Bureau issued an administrative penalty decision on August 20, 2021, in accordance with the “Hainan Ecological Environment Administrative Penalty Standards Regulations” and imposed a fine of RMB 153,000 on Haikou Branch of Hainan Hongzhou Property Services Co., Ltd. They were also ordered to correct immediately and rectifications has been completed.

Case one and two were in violation of relevant provisions of Article 10, Article 83 Paragraph 2 of the Water Pollution Prevention and Control Law of the People’s Republic of China, and Article 59 Paragraph 1 of the Environmental Protection Law of the People’s Republic of China.

Hainan Tourism School fined 300,000 yuan for illegal pollutant discharge.

The domestic wastewater from the tourism school of Hainan Province was directly discharged without treatment, polluting the surrounding environment.

It was in violation of Article 4 and Article 29 of the “Water Pollution Prevention and Control Law of the People’s Republic of China”.

Haikou City Comprehensive Administrative Law Enforcement Bureau issued an administrative penalty decision on August 31, 2021, in accordance with Article 57 and Article 61 of the “Administrative Measures for Pollution Discharge Permits (Trial)” and imposed a penalty on Hainan Tourism School.

A fine of RMB 300,000 was imposed and an immediate correction was ordered.
