According to China Customs’ statistics, the total value of China's import and export of trade in goods in 2021 is about $6.15 trillion, an increase of 21.4% year-on-year. Compared with 2019, China's foreign trade volume, export and import grew by 23.9%, 26.1% and 21.2%, respectively.
Foreign trade volume achieved faster growth, hitting a new record in scale and improving quality steadily.
Over the past year, China’s Customs have served major national strategies such as the coordinated development of the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region, the Yangtze River Economic Belt, the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area and the Yangtze River Delta Integration.
In 2021, China’s Customs ramped up efforts to serve the development of the free trade pilot zones, the Hainan Free Trade Port and the “Belt and Road” Initiative. In addition, the customs office has expanded the mutual recognition of AEO programs, built a "Smart and Inter-connective Customs and Border," finished the RCEP preparation work ahead of schedule and promoted high-level openness.
“In 2021, China's integrated free trade zones registered an import and export growth of 24.3%, the pilot free trade zones logged an import and export increase of 26.4%, and the Hainan Free Trade Port achieved an rise of 57.7% in import and export value,” said Li Kuiwen, spokesman of General Administration of Customs of China.
