Jiangdong New Area to establish “Smart Cube”

The design of a smart comprehensive base in the located in the headquarters economic zone (ecological CBD) of Jiangdong New Area has been unveiled. When completed, the base－located in Haikou, capital of southern China’s Hainan Province－will serve as a ‘model home’ to promote the construction of a smart park in the zone.

The Jiangdong New Area smart comprehensive base, bordered by Jiangdong Avenue to the south and facing Haikou Financial Center to the north, will be spread out over five floors above ground and one floor below ground. Playing the role of ‘model home’, the base’s work will mainly revolve around government services, energy, a resources trading platform, industrial park emergency services, logistics, education, the business district, public parks and environmental protection, and will meet the benchmark for the construction of smart parks in advanced areas.

The design of the base, named “Smart Cube” after the shape of the building, exhibits futuristic sci-tech vibes. The public service hall, support space and external space will form an open base, with grassy slopes and ramped veranda combining to form an outdoor park landscape system. The server room, which will contain the data infrastructure, internal office and command center. During the day, the outer walls will display the outlines of clouds set against a cloud of pixels on the inner walls. As night falls, the structure will transform into a dynamic digital screen.
